In another action-packed week in the BBL Championship, Newcastle Eagles maintained their advantage at the top of the table thanks to victories over the Everton Tigers and PAWS London Capital. The 97-85 defeat of the Tigers on Friday evening was followed up 24 hours later by a 80-73 defeat of the Capital in London.
The chasing pack is now being led by the Kularoos Plymouth Raiders after they picked up three impressive victories this week. An 83-79 victory over the SAMG Verve Scottish Rocks on Wednesday evening was followed up by a 92-83 win over Team Birmingham Panthers on Saturday night. Their successful weekend was capped off with a 93-84 road victory over the BiG Storage Cheshire Jets on Sunday evening.
Hot on their heels are the Guildford Heat who prepared for next Sunday's BBL Trophy Final against the Eagles with a 110-97 defeat of the Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders on Wednesday evening and an 84-72 victory over fellow play-off contenders Scottish Rocks.
In the race for the final play-off positions, both the Marshall MK Lions and the Sheffield enjoyed mixed success over the weekend. The Sharks suffered a 97- 83 defeat at the hands of the Worcester Wolves on Friday evening, while the MK Lions picked up a 74-61 victory over the Leicester Riders. The two teams met in Milton Keynes on Sunday, and it was the Sharks who came out on top with an 83-66 victory over the Lions.
The Wolves kept their hopes of a play-off position alive after their victory over the Sharks was followed up by a 117-107 defeat of the Jets on Saturday evening.
