BIG LEAGUE UPDATE!!!!
12 September 2007
The BiG Storage Cheshire Jets have announced that the captain of their renowned "Jetwash" team of 2002, James Hamilton, has re-signed for the 2007-08 campaign.
Hamilton, who first joined the club in 1999, has helped the Jets win a mass of trophies in the past as he was also a member of the team that won the BBL trophy for four consecutive years from 2001 and 2004.
Hamilton, a three-time BBL all-star, was born in Grand Blanc, Michigan and attended Iowa State University and Bradley University in the USA. He has also had experience of playing in Switzerland, Hungary, Australia and New Zealand, as well as other stints in the BBL with London Towers and Worthing Bears in the mid-1990s. The 35-year-old has long been a favourite with the Northgate faithful.
TJ Walker, Head Coach of BiG Storage Cheshire Jets, commented, "I am delighted to welcome James back to the Jets. With three rookies coming in from the States it is absolutely essential for them to have a wise and experienced presence around them - to help them get used to the league, to the referees, to the particular feel of the BBL - and they don't come any wiser or more experienced than James."
Director of basketball, Paul Smith, added, "You cannot underestimate what someone like James brings to the team - tremendous heart and great intelligence at both ends of the court. I think that is often overlooked, because people focus on his offensive talent and miss what he can do on defence. He is a tremendous defensive player."
