Durant a Wolf

The Worcester Wolves have announced their first new signing, to play alongside player/coach Skouson Harker, in 6'8" Brit Shaun Durant.

Durant joins from Spanish club Sabadell, where he spent last season following a successful college career with NCAA Division 1 Lipscomb University, where he helped his team to the Atlantic Sun Conference Title.

Coach Harker commented, "Shaun has the size and skill to be a very effective inside player in the BBL. At 6'8'' 260 his strength and inside touch will be very helpful in winning ballgames."

At Lipscomb University the 25-year-old Londoner led his team in rebounding during his final two seasons at 7.2 rebounds per game. He also led his team in field goals at nearly 65% while scoring nearly 7.5 points per game. Defensively, Durant led Lipscomb in blocked shots as well.

"Shaun will add a dimension that is essential for the success of our team. I am thrilled he has decided to choose our club over other BBL offers. It is a credit to our entire organisation that Shaun has decided to take sides with us in fighting for a playoff position. Shaun is a proven winner and this is important," added Coach Harker.

The Wolves are expected to announce further signings in the coming weeks, as contract negotiations are reaching a conclusive stage with a number of other players. Harker explains, "I am having trouble keeping our signings under wraps at the moment, but I will say this, we have signed a point guard with Euroleague experience, a shooting guard that holds NCAA records for three pointers made in a single game and made per game, a small forward that led his professional league in scoring this past season, and a very solid forward that has won a BBL Title. We do have two scholarships remaining though and are looking to use these to help build a very strong bench that will ensure our competitiveness in the eye of injury storms."

Director of Basketball Mick Donovan said, "We have being working really hard since the final game of last season to strengthen the Wolves on and off the court. There have been wholesale changes and so far with Skouson and Shaun on board - the first pieces of the jigsaw are in place"

As the Wolves prepare for their first match of the season, it appears they are well on their way to improve on a difficult, yet educational, first season in the BBL.
