Jets Sign British Guard

The BiG Storage Cheshire Jets have completed the exciting capture of London-born Marc Pratt, and player/coach TJ Walker has given some clues as to the potential fast-paced style of basketball that his team may play next season.

The 25-year-old is a former England youth international and also featured for Great Britain in the World University Games in 2005. Walker said of his latest signing,

"Marc is extremely athletic and when he takes good shots he usually makes them - and he usually takes good shots! He will fit into my guard-orientated pattern of play for the Jets next season - filling the no.3 spot."

Pratt, a 6'4" guard/forward, joins David Radlovic and Jayson Obazuaye in the new-look Jets team and the three-guard line-up looks set to include Pratt, Obazuaye, and Walker himself in the backcourt.

Jets' Director of Basketball, Paul Smith, commented,

"We are delighted to welcome Marc to the Jets; one because he is British-born and we are keen to demonstrate to the youngsters who will be involved in the community programme starting in September that there is no reason why they cannot achieve the same level of success, given the same level of talent and commitment, but also because he is exactly the sort of player that TJ is determined to bring on board - young, skilful, enthusiastic and committed - to bring success back to the Jets organisation."

Pratt is well acquainted with players from the GB squad, and also some who may be a part of it in the future. He played with Newcastle Eagles' point-guard Richard Midgley in high school, with Dallas Mavericks' forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu in the London Towers youth set-up, and with Nick George on the World University Games team.

The Jets start the season with a road-trip to the Kularoos Plymouth Raiders on Friday 21st September. There first home game is on Sunday 23rd September as they host fierce rivals the Sheffield Sharks.
