Wolves Sign Marksman

The Worcester Wolves are delighted to announce their second signing for the upcoming season. 6'3'' sharpshooter Markus Hallgrimson has given his signature. The NCAA Division Two First Team All-American Selection was one of the top scorers in the country (23.7 ppg) while at Montana State University - Billings. His standout performances included 51, 50 and 45 point outbursts. This en-route to NCAA records for three point field goals made in a single game (16) and made per game (6.2) during the 1999-2000 season.

Since Hallgrimsons stellar NCAA career the 32 year old German/American has had stops in Germany, Spain, Switzerland spanning the past seven seasons. In 2004 Markus led the German 1. Bundesliga in three point shooting percentage (45.9%.) He also helped the Geneve Devils to the Swiss LNA Finals in 2005 while averaging 12 points and 2.2 assists. This past season he helped Mitteldeutscher BC to a second place finish in the competitive German 2. Bundesliga.

Player/Coach Skouson Harker is clearly excited about his latest addition "Markus is a former teammate and he is a great guy. He has a real knack in making difficult shots routinely. I am very excited to play alongside him again. I know he is up for it and we will look for him to bring veteran leadership and poise."

Hallgrimsons thoughts are very similar "I am up for the challenge and I know we can work together and win a lot of games. I am thankful to Mick Donovan and Skouson for this opportunity to play in the BBL while working towards my Masters Degree."

Coach Harker would again like to thank the University of Worcester. "I am very grateful to the University and their support. This is a very unique opportunity for Markus to enrich his future by earning a Masters Degree. The fact that he can remain playing as a professional is a tribute to the hard work, dedication and vision of the University of Worcester, Mr. Mick Donovan and our Chairman Mr. Roger Clarke.''

Director of Basketball Mick Donovan "Having spoken to Markus, his enthusiasm is infectious and the experience and ability that he will bring to the team is going to be a key feature within our aims to move forward as a club at the elite level in British Basketball. Great news - we are excited."

With further player signings to be announced shortly the Wolves appear to be shaping up for an exciting new season.
