Rangers away punch

East Stirlingshire 0 Berwick Rangers 3

Top against bottom. Not only bottom, but the team universally described as the worst in Britain! It is high-flying Berwick against poor old East Stirling based in my home town of Falkirk, who have even had a book written about them, quite cleverly ambiguously titled "Pointless?" And it was no problem for the visitors who won comfortably by three goals to maintain their four point advantage over Arbroath, who also had a 3-0 away win.

After several close things, Rangers eventually took the lead through Haynes, who bundled the ball home after 23 minutes. Almost continuous pressure paid off when Robbie Horn headed home the second before half-time.

The second period was more of the same, the only surprise being that the third goal did not arrive until two minutes from the end through sub Steven Noble.

So Berwick go into the final furlong leading the table and, on current form, they can go full steam ahead towards promotion.

P.S. The book mentioned above, "Pointless?" is well worth a read not only for those of us who support some of the smaller sides, but also for fans of the bigger clubs who, after reading this, may just appreciate a little more exactly what they have!!
