Oh Dear Berwick

Airdrie United 4 Berwick Rangers 0

Well, if new boss Michael Renwick didn't already know that he had taken on one of the most difficult jobs in football, he sure knows now!

With Rangers' only victory of the season coming against Airdrie, hopes were high for a repeat performance but from the minute Russell scored to maintain his personal goal-scoring form, there was little doubt as to where the three points were heading. It was backs-to-the-wall stuff and it came as little surprise when Noble added a second. With a third coming from McKeown before the break, there was little chance of Berwick getting anything out of the game other than some sort of respectability.

Airdrie were now in cruise mode but you had to admire the fight shown by Rangers after the break. McKeown scored his second and Airdrie's fourth just on the hour mark and some brave defending allied to a bit of poor finishing by the homesters meant that there were no further goals.

So Mr. Renwick can now have no illusions as to the job he has taken on and he will have to get things going sharpish if Rangers are going to have any chance of survival.
