Darlington 3 Wycombe Wanderers 2
How come when we have had such a good season and still (hoping every other contender loses!) with a very much outside chance of the play off place, do we end up with such a low crowd. We have the best stadium in the division and a good team fighting near the top and we only get two thousand seven hundred people to support our team! Why?
It was a decent game that all these people missed. Come on Quakers people, support your local team!!!!
Darlington were 3-2 winners against Wycombe with David Rowson hitting his first goal of the season to decide the five-goal thriller. And Rowson was even better late in the game when he hit home a low drive from 25 yards on 70 minutes to dent Wycombe's play-off hopes.
Wanderers were without a win in nine games, but that looked set to end when Matt Bloomfield gave them an 11th-minute lead. Tommy Mooney showed class and experience with a pass that split the defence and enabled Bloomfield to fire into the corner of the net.
However Darlington fought back, not like recent weeks, a bit of sparkle today, when Neil Wainwright sprinted on to Rory Prendergast's pass on 27 minutes to score.
Half time ones a piece.
Within two minutes of the start of the second half Wainwright had struck again scoring with a low shot after a great run.
But within a couple of minutes sloppy defending allowed Jermaine Easter to equalise when he scored from close-range.
Good stuff from the Quakers had a seventieth minute winner when Rowson put the home side back in front.
Darlington could have won by more goals as they piled on the pressure, but the win was good enough ending a sparse time since Hartlepool beat us at those weeks ago.
