Back to square one!

After a fine win at Portsmouth, now came a real chance to confirm that 'Boro do have the necessaries to put a decent run together, albeit against Everton, one of the form teams of the moment.

True they had their chances through Tuncay and one effort from O'Neill produced the save of the day from Howard. However my old team are brimming with confidence at the moment and they always looked like they could do enough to win the game and this they duly did.

Firstly Johson finished sweetly across Schwarzer's body after good work by the returning Yakubu and Pienaar. Then the game was over when Downing made a hash of things and Everton broke swiftly through McFadden and Johnson for the Scot to finish confidently, dedicating his goal to his former team-mate Phil O'Donnell who had tragically died at the week-end.

So 'Boro still have a distinct lack of fire-power. Whether Mido and Aliadiere can solve this problem or a dip into the market during the transfer window is needed remains to be seen.
