Boro Hammered Again

West Ham 3 Middlesbrough 0

After a couple of wins things were looking up for the 'Boro but this was not one of their better days. Whilst the final score flatters the home side a bit, if ever proof was needed that to win Premiership matches you have to take a fair percentage of your chances when they come your way, then this was it.

Former Toon man Craig Bellamy must have been at an all-time high in confidence following his tremendous display for Wales in mid-week, but he limped off after 26 minutes. However, as luck would have it, it was his replacement Carlton Cole who set up two early second half goals, the first for another ex-Toon man Lee Bowyer and the second being an unfortunate own goal from Luke Young.

So basically the game was over though West Ham did score a third and I am sure it must have been satisfying for both player and club because the scorer was Dean Ashton who is on his way back after a horrendous injury.

But that is certainly no consolation for 'Boro who will be looking to get their act together for the big one next week, Sunderland at home.
