Boro Pre Season

Well, Middlesbrough are playing it pretty low key in their pre-season build-up. Having beaten Darlo and drawn with Burnley, their short tour to Germany ended with a draw against Hertha Berlin and a sound 3-0 defeat at Schalke 04.

Everybody has their own views about the importance of pre-season matches but i have it on good authority that Mr. Southgate was none too happy with the performance.

Strangely, 'Boro have only one home game in the build-up, that being against the vastly improved Dutch side A.Z. Alkmaar the week before the season starts. This will be a good test and at least the fans will have one game to anticipate what is likely to occur in the forthcoming campaign.

It will also be a chance to see new £2.5m signing Luke Young from Charlton Athletic. He could certainly become a big favourite at The Riverside and is looking to put on the type of performances to attract more England caps.
