BORO TAKE STING OUT OF HORNETS!
Saturday 7th April 2007
Attendance: 25,534
Middlesbrough 4 Watford 1
My old mate Harty lives in the North-East and is Watford's No. 1 supporter and he loves it when they are playing in the area. So when he uses the words "pathetic" and "abysmal" when talking about his beloved Hornets then they must be bad!
And they were. But, as the saying goes, you still have to beat them and "Boro did at a stroll. They have been a bit iffy themselves of late but took advantage of the ineptitude of the visitors to win in a canter.
Mark Viduka in particular took advantage of the space generously afforded him to add two goals to his season's tally. He was also involved in the other best moments which included a deflected goal for Boateng and a rare close range finish from Rockenback.
It would be unfair not to pay tribute to the performance of Adam Johnson, a youngster making his way through to being a first-team regular. I watched him recently in the reserves and today he confirmed my opinion that he can go all the way.
Safety for 'Boro and Championship football for Watford. Sorry Harty!!
