Hull refuse to lie down

Hull City 1 Middlesbrough 1

Although Middlesbrough were the superior side for the vast majority of the match they did not score util the 73rd minute through Mark Viduka.

However it shows how much grit newly-appointed Hull manager, the Geordie, Phil Brown, has instilled in his Hull side that they refused to lie down and equalised through substitute Nicky Forster.

'Boro' had enough of the play and chances to finish the game in the first half, with Stewart Downing and Julio Arca both going close from free-kicks and Yakubu having shots cleared off the line twice by the impressive Danny Coles.

Eventually Mark Viduka opened the scoring with a low shot from 18 yards and Middlesbrough appeared to be on their way into the hat for the next round.

But that was reckoning without the spirit of this Hull side and only six minutes later Ryan France delivered a dangerous cross into the box and Forster got on the end of it to equalise and set up a replay .
