Only one thing is certain and that is that there is no certainty when you watch "Boro'. And unfortunately this was one of their lesser days. The one thing you cannot accuse Middlesbrough of is consistency!
We even got a fortunate lead when former Sunderland 'keeper Thomas Sorenson somehow allowed a Rochemback free-kick to squirm from his grasp and sneak over the line. However, he needn't have been too concerned because ‘Boro were not really in the mood to go on and win the game.
A goal just before the break from Gardner and two further second half goals from Moore and Petrov meant that, in the end, Villa ran out comfortable winners.
So Villa, after being dangerously close to being dragged into the relegation fight, suddenly find themselves in the top half of the table above us.
So where from here, ‘Boro? Your guess is as good as mine!
