Reading 1 Middlesbrough 1
This match between two struggling teams was never going to be pretty but credit to 'Boro who stuck with it and got a deserved point with a late goal from Tuncay.
Even winning a point could not prevent Middlesbrough from dropping into the bottom three so we can only hope that this will not start the panic bells ringing even more. I am sure Gareth Southgate will want to emphasise that this was a point gained and not another one lost irrespective of the drop down in the league.
The first half was very, very poor and the game only livened up when Reading took the lead through the hard-working Kitson who cottoned on to Doyle's flick and lobbed over the stranded Turnbull. Reading too are under pressure and this was more than highlighted when keeper Hahnemann and centre-half Sonko almost came to blows when the keeper was none too impressed with his centre-half's marking--or was it lack of it--from a right wing cross.
Mind you, it did not have the desired effect because from a very similar cross, Tuncay stole in front of his marker to head home an equaliser which, in the weeks to come, could prove to be vital indeed.
