Three Points and Not a Lot Else!

Middlesbrough 1 Derby County 0

A home game against the team adrift at the bottom of the league. A chance to not only win the game but do it with a bit of style?

No!

Yes, 'Boro came out of the match with three points but precious little else. Tuncay's fine run and finish was out of context with the rest of the game and, it has to be said, he was helped by the poor defending of the visitors. Anything else 'Boro could get on target was dealt with capably by the impressive Roy Carroll.

As we have mentioned before, as long as there is only one goal in it, you can never relax and Earnshaw fluffed a great chance to equalise late in the game so it could have been worse.

But at least 'Boro are back in winning ways and gradually putting a bit of space between themselves and the bottom three.

But relaxation can never be the order of the day!
