Playing against a team that has the rather unenviable record of two wins away from home in their last 50 games, 'Boro must have fancied their chances of keeping up their much better form of late.
When Aliadiere timed his run to perfection to slot the ball through the legs of the advancing Niemi after only 11 minutes it all looked even brighter, especially with new superstar signing Afonso Alves ready and waiting on the bench to join the fray in due course.
Well 'Boro did win but not in too much style. That was the end of the scoring and, although there were a few half chances at either end, the game became a bit stale only really livened up by the appearance of the aforementioned Alves for the last half hour. He didn't really get a chance but one glance at his goal record is all it takes to see that there are goals aplenty to come--We hope!!
Whilst 'Boro are by no means safe from relegation, this win takes them above the disastrous Newcastle as they continue to freefall.
I am sure 'Boro fans will be happy to mention this fact!!
