Bad, bad, and bad again - no let up for Toon supporters

Watford 1 Newcastle United 1

Well that's it over for another season. "Phew!" I hear you say! Last game of the season, away against the long-since relegated Watford. Surely we can finish the season with a bit of a flourish and bluff the fans into thinking that all will improve next season.

No, not a bit of it; two poor teams produce a poor match with very few highlights at all.

I suppose we did at least get the rarity of a goal when Dyer latched on to Solano's lovely through ball to slip it under Ben Foster. Maybe we would have gone on to win the game but referee Rob Styles decided to give a ridiculous penalty when Mariappa smacked the ball against Butt's arm from a matter of inches, making contact utterly unavoidable.

Marlon King, who has been a sad miss through injury, slotted home the equaliser.

To add insult to injury (spot the pun!) Michael Owen was carried off with mild concussion after clashing with his own player Matty Pattinson!!

From what I can glean, Obe Martins didn't fancy it and Charles N'Zogbia didn't fancy a seat on the bench. The word "shambolic" springs to mind.

I believe that the players are being introduced to the new manager tomorrow (Tuesday). All I can say is "Good luck"!!

P.S. Watch this space for our end of term report and an invitation for you to air your views.
