Luque, Luque!!

Good win against Celtic but surely this is going to be a bit more difficult, the mighty Juventus at home. As ever the Geordie support came out in force with a tremendous 34,000 crowd turning up in expectancy--as always. Only this time we were not disappointed, a fine 2-0 win and pre-season is going well to plan.

And Albert Luque scored again, albeit from the spot after a foul on Milner. But it is another goal and another confidence booster after his brace against Celtic. He was injured later and he must be hoping that it is not too serious with Owen, Ameobi and Viduka all available soon.

Andy Carroll, who I was shouting about for most of last season, got off the mark for the first team when he cracked home a rebound after the sharp Martins had got in a good shot that was too hot for Buffon to hold.

So can Carroll and Luque put pressure on the aforementioned "big boys"?

Well we all want competition and let's see them fight for their places.
