So the first proper pre-season friendly has come and gone and it resulted in a 4-1 win against Celtic.
No complaints then.
But did you see the scorers?
Martins with a right foot slap. No surprise.
Milner cutting in from the left on to his right and smacking it in at the near post. Again, no surprise there.
The other TWO were scored By Albert Luque. Do you remember him? Isn't it strange that in the build-up we are all coming up with permutations up front between Owen, Viduka, Martins and Ameobi. Be honest did Luque (a real big money signing) even warrant a thought in your mind?
I'll tell you what if big Sam can make him into a proper player then I shall never again question his credentials as a top coach/manager!
