Nearly...

Chelsea 2 Newcastle United 1

Chelsea on a bit of an off day and with a bit of luck going our way, a draw looked to be on the cards and I am sure we would settle for that in the current climate! Then the luck that we had had was more than expunged when Kalou scored a late winner from an obvious off-side position. Why the linesman did not give it is mere conjecture.

Although under pressure for most of the game, we showed a bit of battle, especially after Essien had put the home side in front, getting to the loose ball way ahead of the floundering Taylor.

Having been well and truly second best in the first half, perhaps there was relief that it was only 1-0 and, as we all know, no matter how much a team is on top, whilst there is only one goal in it there is always an outside chance....And that is exactly what transpired when N'Zogbia chanced his luck against Belletti, got the break and played a dangerous ball into the six yard area.

In the ensuing scramble it is debatable if Butt got the final touch or it was a Bridge own goal, but the most important outcome was that the ball was in the net and it was all square!

A bonus hopefully was the 15 minute appearance of the returning Michael Owen but then the disaster of Kalou's winner.

Obviously things are still not great at the club but with Owen in line for a return, N'Zogbia showing good form and Duff gaining vital match practice can we now show ourselves as a mean attacking force?

We live in hope.
