AT LAST!!

Newcastle 2 Fulham 0

Happy to bring a point back from Birmingham and delighted to win at last against Fulham. At the start of the season this would be the least to be expected but, at a time like this, we will take anything!

A goal six minutes into the game from the returning Viduka ans a clincher six minutes from the end from Michael Owen proved to be more than enough against a Fulham side who must have relegation staring them in the face.

Viduka showed good footwork to engineer enough space on the edge of the box to get a left foot shot at goal and when it snuggled in the corner of the net, relief all round was the order of the day.

Owen missed one great chance before half time when he mis-timed his header with the goal gaping but, as all top strikers do, he never stopped making his trade-mark runs into the box and was rewarded when he got on the end of Geremi's free-kick to settle the match.

So, we cannot consider ourselves safe as yet, but it is certainly looking slightly brighter now!!
