No shock here

Arsenal 3 Newcastle United 0
So we have Kevin the king of attacking football away at Arsenal, the masters on their own patch. Does he go at them or does he shock everyone by playing defensively? Well it certainly seemed to be the former as The Toon started well and at least held their own to such a degree that Owen could well have converted a right wing cross and N'Zogbia went close up the left.
There was effort in abundance and skill here and there so already there is an improvement from the sad old Sam days. But Arsenal are a talented outfit and just when we could be forgiven for daring to think that a replay back at St James' was feasible, up stepped the man of the day, Adebayor, to show that his touch on the deck is every bit as good as his prowess in the air. As a shot from Eduardo came bounding back off the post, his touch was exquisite and, although no fewer than five defenders were in the vicinity, he coolly sent a peach into the corner.
With an uphill struggle pending, Newcastle showed their willingness to fight and, when there is only a goal in it you never know.......then up stepped that man Adebayor again. Collecting the ball on the 18-yard line he took advantage of a very obvious body check by Eduardo (totally unseen by the ref) to use the space to perfect effect by smacking the ball home.
It was almost incidental that Butt was unlucky to get the last touch on a beautifully delivered free-kick from Fabregas to make it a three-nil defeat.
Out of the Cup, it is now back to the business of getting some league points in the bag. Unfortunately, that quest starts on Tuesday back here at The Emirates!!
You never know though............
