Chopra Signs
16 July 2007
Whilst Newcastle continue to be linked with everybody and anybody in the transfer market--the latest two being Benni McCarthy and Franck Quedrue--Sunderland have gone in and paid big money for former Newcastle striker, Michael Chopra. The signing came out of the blue and came as a real shock to both sets of fans.
Michael is a lovely lad who I have met on a couple of occasions but he was always on the periphory at Newcastle with some big name signings always in front of him. As I have said before I firmly believe that strikers find their level in the game where they can perform consistently and get their fair share of goals. Michael did this at Cardiff where he produced a good goals per game ratio but can he do it this time round in The Premiership?
Roy Keane obviously thinks so to spend so much money on him and one thing is for sure, last season's performance at Cardiff should mean that his confidence is sky high so, you never know, he might just prove a few of us doubters wrong!
Having missed out on Chris Baird it looks like Keano will dig deep again in his efforts to bring in Kieran Richardson from Man Utd. One thing is certain if anybody is going to know about his ability and his character it is the gaffer who played with him in Manchester for several seasons. So who will be next to sign on the dotted line?
