Different League?

Sunderland 0 Man Utd 4

I think the best word to describe the Man U performance is "ruthless". We hear talk regularly about the so-called "Big Four". Well, on this performance it was close to being the "Big One"!!

I always have this feeling that when you look at a team-sheet and see the names of Ronaldo and Rooney then you know you are going to be in for a bit of a tough time--to say the least. And they, as well as their compatriots, did not disappoint.

As for the goals:-

1. Rooney found an acre of space between McShane and Higginbotham, and duly obliged with an ultra-confident finish from Wes Brown's astute through ball.

2. Sunderland caught on the break with Rooney again given too much space. This time he played a great ball into the box to Saha, who had made the perfect run to get in front of his marker and slip it home at the near post.

3. Still the first-half and the hard working Fletcher is fouled. Unfortunately it was well within Ronaldo's area and he hit a magnificent shot high into the top corner with Gordon totally stranded at the other side of his goal.

4. Another bit of class from Rooney sent Nani free and his legs were clipped from behind by the desperate Collins. Saha coolly sent the penalty into the corner to cap a fine individual performance.

This was a very difficult day for Roy Keane's men against a side who were on the same pitch but a different planet! More than ever it is so apparent that if Sunderland are to survive then they must pick up points against the lesser lights in The Premier League--starting soon!!
