More nail-biting stuff!

Sunderland 3 Bolton 1

There could well be quite a few of these nail-biting days at The Stadium of Light this season but I am sure that the faithful will not mind being "nail-less" if the outcome is a victory and with it three points!

The game was only put beyond doubt late on when sub Murphy showed good strength and control to fire home that vital third.

Having gone two goals up through Richardson from a fine Jones pass and then the impressive Jones himself with a fine header, everything in the garden looked rosy. But Sunderland to not tend to do things easily! A silly free-kick given away by Miller was curled into the box by Diouf. A good delivery, yes, but the defending was not great as the ball sailed home with nobody getting a touch to it.

With Bolton boosted by their good fortune and Sunderland showing expected nerves it was backs to the wall stuff for a while until Murphy's late clincher.

Sheer happiness!! (And a bit of relief!)
