10 In A Row!!

Portsmouth 1 Sunderland 0

All of the local Sunderland punters I speak with seem to be of the same opinion, namely, that home form may just be enough to keep them up but a good away win would be so valuable. This was the chance because Portsmouth had one of their bad home days but still managed to sneak a win making it 10 away defeats off the belt for Roy Keane's boys.

It took a penalty to break the deadlock in this poor game. Bardsley needlessly brought down Kranjcar and recent signing Defoe slotted home the resultant spot-kick. Highlights were few and far between with both keepers having a quiet day. I am sure the state of the game would not have mattered too much if Sunderland had come away with a point or three but it was not to be.

Sunderland now have their best chance of the season to get that elusive away win when they visit hapless Derby County next week.

Let's see if they can succeed where Newcastle failed!!
