Sunder land a W(B)ig one

Wigan 3 Sunderland 0
Well, it had to happen eventually!
After such a magnificent run since Roy Keane came in as manager and with confidence sky-high, how will the players react to being beaten comprehensively by a Wigan side which now finds itself at the heady heights of the league!
Emile Heskey caused considerable trouble to the Sunderland defenders who could not cope with his strength and it was he who opened the scoring with a neat swivvel and shot.
I believe that Roy Keane was, to put it mildly, not a happy man at the end and he must have been fuming at the way Danny Collins and then Russell Anderson proceeded to give away two unnecessary penalties by recklessly hauling down opponents. Landzaat netted the first and former Toon man Sibierski smashed home the second, his third goal in three games for his new side. Not a bad return for a free transfer man!
So we will have to wait and see if Sunderland dive into the transfer market before the end of the transfer window. It is only one game but with Liverpool and Man. United up next a bit of strengthening of the rear-guard would not go amiss.
