Sunderland Pay the Penalty.

Blackburn Rovers 1 Sunderland 0

With Blackburn having one of their off nights and Sunderland playing as well in the first half as they have all season, a much needed away win looked to be on the cards.

Even more so when Sunderland were awarded a penalty when the massive Samba felled Murphy with a rather cumbersome tackle. However this was when things took a bit of a down turn because Whitehead did not strike the ball too cleanly and Friedel saved fairly comfortably.

To make matters worse, within five minutes Blackburn got a penalty when Higginbotham was adjudged to have handled a Samba shot. Needless to say McCarthy made a much better job of it.

Too many times we are talking about Sunderland doing well but not quite making it. Well, they have to start making it soon!
