It has been a while coming--to say the least--but a battling Sunderland at last headed home with three points under their belt.
Although Villa have not been able to maintain their early season form they were still odds-on to beat a side who had yet to win away in The Premier League this season. And, yes, they had the better of what few chances came about but failed to knock even one home whilst substitute Michael Chopra took Sunderland's one real opportunity albeit with a little help from the Villa rearguard.
He chased Richardson's long ball seven minutes from the end and took full advantage of Carson's terrible hesitancy to tap the ball into the vacant net. Three great points and a morale booster all round.
Survival beckons!
