Unlucky--Again!!!
21 January 2008
Tottenham 2 Sunderland 0
A bad start and a bad finish with so much to shout home about in between. Going a goal down to a Lennon finish after only two minutes did not augur well for the remainder of the game especially when Berbatov went on the rampage having several attempts either just missing or being well stopped by Gordon and/or his defenders. However, not only did Sunderland weather the storm but took the game to Spurs and were desperately unlucky not to get back on level terms at least, with Murphy running riot up the left. From one such cross-cum-shot Cerny, still in goal in place of Robinson, failed to collect cleanly leaving Miller with the chance to shoot home but, quite amazingly, the keeper made an absolutely magnificent save to more than make up for the previous blunder.
An equaliser seemed imminent as Sunderland carried on the onslaught but, completely and utterly out of the blue Tottenham broke away and Keane sent a weak shot towards goal and Gordon joined his opposing number in dropping a clanger. This time the clanger was costly as the ball sneaked over the line to give Keane a milestone of 100 goals for the club which he celebrated substantially!
Again it has to be said, great performance, no result.
It will change in due course.....won't it?!
