Bye, Bye Sam.
10 January 2008
Well Sam is leaving the Toon and there are many, many varying thoughts. Whether you have played the game or not doesn't matter, football is all about opinion, and this is mine!
I had a debate with a mate of mine on Saturday night about the possibility of sacking the manager and he was adamant that it was too early. Yes it is early but, if someone is not up to the job, then get shot! I accept that the next manager may be equally unsuccessful but it has to be tried.
So who will be the next manager? Well, if he wants it, then Alan Shearer has to be favourite. I hear all this rubbish about not being experienced, etc., etc. We have tried the experienced and, Bobby Robson apart, success has not been forthcoming. Alan Shearer has immediate respect, knows the game, knows his own mind and is a winner. He will be sensible enough to employ the right people behind the scenes and knows whose opinion he can respect when looking to bring in new players.
Also, he knows quite categorically that we have to play proper football.
P.S. The only other manager who appears to want to play the game as it should be played is Tony Mowbray who has got West Brom playing some great stuff. I know he won't be quoted for the job this time round but in the future........
