F.A. Cup--What does it mean??

The F.A. Cup was massive in my days as a footballer and people still talk of it as the greatest cup competition in the world.

If this is the case then why do teams play weakened sides? I was at Everton on Saturday and they left a few out thinking that Oldham would be no problem at all. Both Wigan and Sunderland left players out and it only worked for one of them!! It should mean so much to teams of this stature to go as far as they can in the Cup, because they should never deny their fans the dream of a day at Wembley.

Mind you, Newcastle played a full strength side and struggled to a draw against Stoke City!
