Well, football season over, what will we do with ourselves? Bit of golf, bit of tennis and some other things might crop up.....and crop up something did!!
My good friend John Jones from H.M. Plant is right into the super-bikes so he phones me to see if I fancy going to Donnington Park for The British Superbikes on Bank Holiday Monday.
Yes I do fancy it but...Donnington Park, thousands of people, traffic chaos??? His casual reply was, "Won't bother us when we are in a helicopter!!!" Deal done! Scotswood Road to Donnington Park in Derbyshire--50 minutes. Fantastic day with exciting racing and great hospitality....and back for a pint in the Diamond at 6.15!!
These riders really make you think because they basically put their lives on the line every time they jump on a bike. Brave or stupid? Bit of both probably!
One lad came off at 140 m.p.h., skidded right across the track. Ambulance? No, he got up and got back on!!
Didier Drogba gets a nudge and he does six forward rolls, screaming in "agony", gets 10 minutes treatment and hobbles back on (apparently none the worse for wear).
Makes you wonder.
