Match Banter

You can just imagine some of the banter that goes on during a match and certain things stick in your mind.

In my early days at Newcastle we were playing against West Ham and the former Toon legend "Pop" Robson was playing. He got a bit of space in the box and cracked the ball goalwards. It crashed against the bar, came back towards him and quick as a flash he smashed it and it is heading into the top corner when somehow our 'keeper, Mick Mahoney (Super Goalie), gets a hand to it to tip it over the bar.

"Brilliant, son, what a save!"

To which he replies, "To be honest, boys, I was still going for the first one!"

Classic!
