Phil O'Donnell

It is very distressing when a former player dies. Fairly recently two of my pals, Peter Osgood and Alan Ball sadly passed away. So when a current player dies it is literally unbelievable.

One of my best mates, wee Davy Mathieson the finest butcher in Lesmahagow and a Motherwell supporter through and through, confirmed just what a top boy Chris was both on and off the park.

One of the finest tributes of the week came from former 'Well player James McFadden who pointed to his black arm band after scoring for Everton and duly dedicated his goal to Phil.

A lovely touch.
