Super Stars??
I was reading an article by Harry Redknapp about the English youngsters at his club and the way they don't seem to bother, don't do extra work to improve, don't look after their bodies, think they have "made it", etc, etc.....
It brought me round to thinking about a recent trip I made for a meeting at Newcastle's Academy. I arrived just as the players were leaving and I couldn't believe my eyes as I watched them swaggering out with their toilet bags in their hands, making their way towards some flash cars.
They all have a lot to learn about the percentage who do actually make it which is about 1 or 2 per cent - so the majority are in for a shock, to say the least!
There is a lot to be said for the old days when apprentices cleaned the pro's boots, painted the barriers, creosoted the fences even--instead of being mollycoddled as they appear to be nowadays.
And we wonder why so few young players are progressing into the Premiership and the England team is so full of Prima Dona’s!?!
