Falcons bury Saints

Newcastle Falcons 16 Northampton Saints 7

Late shout from a mate. He has a spare ticket for the Falcons match. do I fancy it? why, certainly. Little did I know it was a standing ticket amongst "proper" supporters! And it was great. There I was, stood amongst the crowd of over 10,000, plastic pint pot in hand, getting a close-up view of what it is really like. How hard is this game!? I am so pleased I stuck to playing football! Isn't sport great when getting possession or maintaining possession of a little ball means so much to so many.

Falcons had most of their "big boys" playing in the backs--Burke, Noon, Tait, Flood, May and a certain Jonny Wilkinson. It was very blustery with a strong, swirling wind and I thought ah-ha this will test the great man's kicking. Shows how much I know! He slotted the conversion after Flood's neat try and stroked home all three penalties. And, by the way, he can't half tackle as well!

I thought the Falcons' forwards were fantastic overpowering the visitors pack in general. How hard do they work--perhaps we should send some fancy-dan footballers to watch them and their work ethics!!

So a good victory to maintain the fine home form and a poor return for the visitors who are deep in trouble and what a great day out!
