Falcons Staggered by Kit Requests!
2 August 2007
Newcastle Falcons has been staggered by the response for the club’s new shirt, selling over 20,000 of the Nike kits before they have even hit the shelves.
Pre-orders from fans and the trade have seen sales forecasts obliterated well before the September 13 launch date, when supporters will be able to get their hands on the strip.
Falcons commercial director, Mick Hogan, said: “We had envisaged strong sales of 25,000 shirts in the first year as a whole, but we are already past the 20,000 mark over six weeks before the season starts and well before the kit has even arrived at the club shop.
“The original sales estimates have been proven to be too low, and we are working flat out to secure more stock from Nike in what is their first season with the club.
“While the huge sales are obviously good news for the Falcons, what it does mean for supporters is that they are urged to pre-order their shirts now if they want one for the opening game of the Guinness Premiership season at home to Sale Sharks on September 16, because the current remaining stock is going incredibly quickly.”
Adult replica shirts are available to pre-order at £50, with juniors at £40 and authentic player-issue dri-fit match kits proving popular so far at £70.
Hogan added: “We’re delighted with the feedback from our supporters having unveiled the kit only a week ago, and the strong sales figures are just further evidence that the new strip is a definite hit on the terraces.”
Pre-orders can be made over the phone by calling 0191 214 2833, logging on to www.newcastle-falcons.co.uk or by popping to the Kingston Park club shop during office hours.
