Falcons Worcester

Un-Loki at Sixways…
The Falcons were literally pushed back into the Premiership relegation battle last night after three catch and drive tries by the Worcester forwards in a remarkable second half comeback, that was almost reversed in the last kick of the game.
The Falcons snatched defeat from the jaws of victory when stand off Loki Crichton missed a relatly simple last-kick penalty in a 23-21 defeat.
England Saxons Flanker Ben Woods scored two early tries before Hooker Matt Thompson crossed to give the Geordie side a commanding lead, Warriors, bottom of the table and needing the points took an early lead through a Shane Drahm.
Drahm was forced to settle for another penalty. That was answered though with a Falcons passing move which ended in Thompson scoring on the left, and the successful Crichton conversion gave the Falcons a 6-21 half time lead.
The Worcester Coach made few replacements in the pack and this meant that the Falcons were put under the cosh in the second half and Aleki Lutui managed to score a brace to match Woods and human tack Gavin Quinnell scored to give his side a 223-21 lead and relegation lifeline.
Then the drama ... referee Martin Fox gave the Falcons what looked like a kickable penalty with the clock down to zero. Matthew Burke chose to let Loki kick for the win. however we may have used all of our get out of jail free cards in the last few weeks and the kick sailed wide.
It was the home fans who were celebrating the final whistle, with the tight 23-21 win taking them off the bottom three points clear of Northampton who managed a draw with Sale this weekend.
