I remember playing against Tommy Smith when he was at Liverpool. Now, I have to be honest, he was a hard lad! I think it was me and others who finally found out his middle name---Tommy Fu-k--g Smith!! When he hit you, you remained hit!
Before my time a lad called Joe Harper played for Everton and, in a moment of would-be bravado, he decided to have a go at the aforementioned Mr. Smith who, it has to be said (But please don't tell him it was me who said it!) did not have the best of complexions i.e. he was a bit spotty!
He worked up his bravery and then he said it, ‘Why don't you F off, toast on beans face!’
So Tommy obviously slaughtered him – you can imagine how the guy hobbled off the field!
Harper had tried hard but couldn't even get the beans on toast in the right order!!
(FEAR HAD STRUCK HIM – AND RIGHTLY SO!!)
