What a goal scorer and what a player! He gets fed up with people saying it but it is a fact that he must be one of the best uncapped players ever. He plied his trade at several clubs including both Sunderland and Newcastle where he had an amazing instinct for scoring goals. You could never take your eye off him for a second.
Pop went on to coach at several clubs and also did a lot of scouting for various teams and is currently working for Blackburn Rovers in this capacity and he still lives in the Hexham area.
One piece of advice--Do not take him on at golf! Last time we played he claimed to play off a handicap of six and went round in level par!
