Tony Green
4th April 2007
Is it possible to play less than 40 games for Newcastle United and be classed as a legend? The answer is a resounding "yes" if your name is Tony Green.
What a player he must have been because everybody (without exception) who I have spoken to who saw him play says he was an absolute genius. It was an absolute travesty that his career was cut short because of a shocking injury.
I can also vouch for the fact that he is a lovely lad and so modest. Where is he now? Well, he is living in Blackpool, from where we signed him, with his lovely and very sociable wife, Chris. Just to prove that all ex-footballers are not "as thick as mince" he is a maths teacher at a local secondary school.
He also has the job of sitting on the pools panel every week lest there should be a load of games off usually due to the weather. So he sits on the panel in August in case there is severe snow--and gets paid for it!!
I know we are all being told about climate change but this is just ridiculous!
